The Shaw’s go to Disneyland!

This was the very first trip to Disneyland for all 4 of us!

My parents went to Disneyland on their honeymoon, and that was as close as I’ve come. Actually this was the first time any of us had been to California. There was a lot of pressure to make the most of our trip. It seems like there are a million blog posts about how to make the most of your trip. We decided to just do 1 day so we really wanted to make the most of your time. The night before Dan and I stayed up late mapping out our plan. We felt really prepared after our planning session. But we just crossed our fingers and promised that if all our planning went down the drain we would still have a great time.

I’m happy to say that our planning did help and we got to do just about everything we wanted. Most of the tips I had read were very helpful. We also decided to buy a small point and shoot camera, great idea! I didn’t want to lug my “fancy camera” around with us and worry about keeping track of it and not hurting it. But we also didn’t want to use my phone too much because we use the ride wait time app to plan our next ride. The pictures aren’t as good of quality as my big camera, of course, but it really worked well for are tip.

We had an amazing time at Disneyland and California Adventure. The boys cannot stop talking about it, and they are already planning a return visit.

For weeks before our trip the boys dreamed about riding the Mickey Ferris Wheel. It did not disappoint, the loved our ride.

Car’s Land was a hit, except for fact that Logan was about 2 inches to short to ride the Lightning McQueen racing ride! We got Fast Passes for it so the wait wasn’t going to be too bad. Dan was going to take Eli and then we would switch and I would take Eli. Well the ride broke right before Dan and Eli’s turn! So the 20 minute wait turned into almost an hour. Logan was so upset about not going on the ride and I was upset about waiting with a sad Logan. By the time Dan and Eli got done with the ride I was so over Car’s Land! We got a snack and headed to Disneyland.

Another highlight was Mickey’s house. There was no line so we were about to go wander at our leisure.  The think part of the reason that Disneyland is so magical is all the  attention to detail. Everything is so thought out, and so well done.  Nothing was over looked, and it was apparent in Mickey house.

The picture of Eli on the right would be, ” Mom move! I’m watching that show!” Apparently the black and white Mickey Mouse cartoon was captivating.

Logan still talks about the gloves in the washer.

And we finished off Mickey’s house with meeting Mickey!

Our boys are also obsessed with Chip and Dale! So we had a wonderful time riding Gadget’s roller coaster and playing in Chip and Dale’s Tree house.

Both evening parades were so much fun! The boys were so excited they were dancing in the street before the Pixar Parade.

We finished off the night with a few more rides and then the fireworks show.  It felt very idealic to ride the tea cups at Disneyland, something everyone must do!
