Spring Break 2014 our family went on an amazing vacation to California. Last year I blogged about San Diego and Disneyland, but in the business of life I forgot to blog about possibly our favorite part, Manhattan Beach.
We came to Manhattan Beach by luck. Dan was looking for a place by the ocean for us to stay for a few days after Disneyland before we flew home from L.A. Neither of us had ever heard of Manhattan Beach before but the location was convenient for our early morning flight, so we booked it. We had no idea how perfect Manhattan Beach would be and how much we would fall in love with it.
It turns out that Manhattan Beach was the vacation location that dreams are made of. Our first stop was a delicious gelato place. Dan and I first had gelato on our honeymoon in Hawaii and we’ve been obsessed ever since. After settling into our hotel Eli told us about his dream to watch the sunset over the ocean. We had had a late night at Disneyland the day before and an early morning when Logan fell out of bed, but how could we not make Eli’s dream come true? Saying yes was the best decision ever. Our sunset at the ocean was truly magical. Manhattan Beach had stolen our hearts.
As Eli frolicked in the surf and sand a tired and cold Logan snuggled with Dad.
He was so excited to see the sunset and play at the beach. He watched the sky with awe. His dream was really coming true, and it was amazing to watch it happen.
Be still my heart! I am pretty sure this is what heaven looks like.
Over the next few days we spent as much time as we could right there in our little piece of heaven.
Logan got hit by a big wave in Laguna a few days earlier, so he stayed out of the water the remainder of the trip. But he was more than happy to spend all day digging in the sand.
One of the highlights of our trip was getting to spend time with Becky. If you had told me back in 6th grade when we met that we would still be friends into adulthood I wouldn’t have believed you. I consider myself so lucky to be her friend.
Logan loves Becky too!
We talk about going back to Manhattan Beach all the time. We have lots of plans to make so many more memories there once Dental School is over. Until next time Manhattan beach.
