Last week I had the pleasure of meeting 2 sweet little girls, Liliah and Elena. These sweet twins were born several weeks early because of complications. They have been in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for over a month. There was also almost 2 weeks were they were there alone. There parents and sister were sick so they were not allowed to have visitors. It was a very trying time but now everyone is healthy and they have been reunited. Both Liliah and Elena are also improving and we are all hoping that they will be home very soon.
The group that I volunteer though is called The Tiny Footprints Project. They provide professional pictures free of charge to families of babies who are in the NICU. It is am amazing organization and I am honored to be part of it. I volunteer in honor of Annie Beus. Annie is the daughter of our friends Travis and Roz. Annie was born with several medical complications. Annie spent months in the NICU. We always talked about doing pictures when Annie came home. Sadly, Annie never came home. When I hear of The Tiny Footprints Project I immediately thought of Annie. I could have taken pictures of her, even in the NICU. I am so sad that I missed my chance to capture beautiful pictures of Annie. But now I have the opportunity of serve and honor her memory.
I love that even though there is a size difference they are doing the exact same thing with their legs!
Veronica is such a proud big sister!
When you have to leave your baby at the hospital the nursing staff become your extended family.
