Last week we took our first vacation since our honeymoon. It was LONG overdue and we were so excited to spend some great family time together.
As soon as we got off the plane in San Diego we were itching to head to the beach. We grabbed a quick lunch and headed to Coronado!
Seeing the Hotel del Coronado was seriously a dream come true. It was just a beautiful as I imagined. It was wonderful to let the boys play in the sand and take in it’s beauty. Hopefully one day we can actually afford to stay there!
The boys LOVE the beach!
The happiness to finally be in California was practically oozing out of these guys.
The next morning we headed to the zoo!
Both boys, especailly Eli are avid animal lovers. The San Diego Zoo is huge! And we knew that there was no way that we were going to see everything so we made sure to see the animals that we don’t have at the Seattle Zoo.
My own little Kola’s
The polar bears were a big hit! They were very active and it was really surprising how big they are in person.
Practicing being polar bears.
Another once in a lifetime animal to see were the Panda’s. We were a little afraid that we would have to wait in line to see them, but we were able to walk right up. Dan and I had seen Panda’s before at the National Zoo, but they were pretty far away, and there were huge crowds. Here we just walked right up and they were just on the other side of the fence.
Eli loved the Panda’s so much that he chose a panda for his souvenir. It’s little arms up and close, so he calls him Hugs.
We took a bus tour around the zoo on a double decker bus. It was a great way to see so many animals around the zoo and to rest our feet from so many hours of walking around the zoo.
Dan was super excited to introduce us to the Capybara. They are native to Brazil and are the largest rodent in the world!
The boys were fascinated at how slowly the Galapagos Tortoises move.
We ended the day at the boys and Dan’s favorite place, the reptile house!
“Hey Mom, take a picture of me with my little yellow froggy.”
And that is a wrap for the zoo! Come back tomorrow when I share our own families pictures and then on Thursday our first trip to Disneyland!
