As a photographer there are few things that make us happier than an email telling us how much someone connects to our work. I got such an email from Rilla after taking newborn picture for her friend Amy. Rilla was only about 12 weeks along, but she wanted to make sure that I did her babes newborn pictures. It is such a great feeling when to know that someone has connected with your pictures.
The more I have gotten to know Rilla the more I like her. She is a nurse at Seattle Children’s Hospital, which is where I spent yesterday with Logan having surgery. I have never met anyone who works at Children’s that I don’t love with my whole heart. When it comes to the people who so unselfishly and patiently take care of your kids, you can’t help but love them. Rilla is also a wonderful Mother. You may not know it by looking at her, but she is carrying a very special baby. Rilla’s little girl will have Down Syndrome. I do not doubt for a minute that there is a reason this special little girl was sent to such an amazing Mother.
I truly feel blessed to have been able to do Rilla’s maternity pictures. And I am so grateful to be able to continue to capture their story after they add another beautiful daughter.
This picture of Rilla and Brooke is my favorite from the whole session!
